The R&S®SMM100A vector signal generator provides remarkably good RF characteristics across the entire frequency range from 100 kHz to 44 GHz. The instrument covers the bands up to 7.125 GHz used by the wireless standards for 5G NR FR1 and Wi-Fi 8 as well as the 5G NR FR2 bands up to 44 GHz.
The internal baseband generator in the R&S®SMM100A supports a maximum RF modulation bandwidth of 1 GHz. Digitally modulated broadband signals can thus be generated as required by the prevalent wireless standards. The R&S®SMM100A is well prepared for future bandwidth requirements.
Features & benefits
Excellent SSB phase noise and EVM performance
SSB phase noise of <-129 dBc is specified for an RF frequency of 1 GHz with a 20 kHz offset for theR&S@SMM100A vector signal generator. The typical value of -134 dBc is even 5 dB lower. TheR&SeSMM-B709 low phase noise option lowers SSB phase noise to -139 dBc. In addition to excellentRF performance, it also has outstanding modulation characteristics at higher frequencies. TheR&S@SMM100A delivers impressive EVM performance of <-45 dB at an RF frequency of 28 GHz for a400 MHz 5G NR signal.
Improved performance at higher output power
Activating the R&SeSMM-K575 RF linearization option significantly improves the EV performance athigher output power. EVM performance improves by 8 dB for 100 MHz 5G NR signals in line with 3GPPTM 3.1 at 3.4 GHz and output power of 10 dBm. The same is valid for ACLR performance in theadjacent channel.

The basic configuration of the R&SeSMM100A supports a maximum RF modulation bandwidth of 120MHz. Depending on reauirements, bandwidth can be extended up to 1 GHz with a license key. Withsimilar flexibility, the ARB memory can be extended from 64 Msample up to a maximum of 2 GsampleThe R&SeSMM100A also comes with various frequency options up to a maximum of 44 GHz. Userscan precisely confiqure the R&SeSMM100A to meet actual requirements。

Ready for Wi-Fi testing
The preceding WLAN standards lEEE 802.11ac and lEEE 802.11ax use a maximum sianal bandwidth of160 MHz, However., the trend for WLAN is toward larger bandwidths and higher frequencies. IEEE802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) specifies a signal bandwidth of 320 MHz in the frequency range from 5.8 GHz to7.125 GHz. The R&SeSMM100A satisfies the signal quality reguirements with an EVM of better than -53dB for a signal bandwidth of 320 MHz.
High rate pulse (HRP) ultrawideband (UWB)
The R&SeSMM100A is ideal for HRP UWB receiver testing. The instrument covers the frequency rangeup to 10.6 GHz and with an RF modulation bandwidth of 500 Hz, signals can be generated on the
most important channels.The R&SeSMM-K149 HRP UWB baseband option supports signal generation for three specifiedmodes: HRP UWB from lEEE 802.15.4 as well as the BPRF mode and the HPRF mode for enhancedranging devices (ERDEF) from IEEE 802.15.4z
