Key facts
Frequency range between 80 MHz and 6 GHz
Output power between 22 W and 13000 W
Adjustable in bias point and mismatch tolerance
Suitable for amplitude, frequency, phase, pulse and OFDM modulation
Flexibly scalable and upgradable in frequency and power
Flexibly scalable and upgradable in frequency and power
The R&S®BBA130 broadband amplifiers provide RF output power between 22 W and 13000 W over the frequency range between 80 MHz and 6 GHz. The robust amplifiers offer flexible setting options so that an optimal RF signal can be generated for the specific application. It is therefore possible during operation to adjust the bias point for the transistors between Class A and Class AB and to change the mismatch tolerance at the output to provide more power. The air cooled amplifiers have a compact, modular design and are suitable as desktop models or can be installed in a rack. Its upgradability in frequency and power safeguards customers' investment.
Features & benefits
Broadband amplification
Robust and scalable with a broad portfolio
The R&SeBBA130 broadband amplifiers are state-of-the-art solid state microwave amplifier encompassaltogether three frequency ranges: 80 MHz - 1 GHz (BC), 0.69 GHz - 3.2 GHz (D) and 2.5 GHz - 6 GHzIE) with different power classes between 22 W and 13000 W. They can be flexibly scaled and upgradedin terms of frequency and power. lt secures customers' investments and offers them the flexibility toadapt their systems to new requirements at a later point in time.
Adjustable bias point
Outstanding linearity
With R&S@BBA130 you can set the transistor bias to Class A, Class AB or anywhere in between in orderto change the characteristics of the output signal. A bias point in Class A provides excellent linearityWith good harmonic performance. A bias point in Class AB permits accurate reproduction of pulsedsignals as well as improved efficiency. To generate a clean CW signal for a device test, operate theR8SeBBA130 in Class A. To accurately amplify pulsed signals, select a bias point in Class AB。
Balanced output power
Maximum output power versus higher mismatch tolerance
The R&SeBBA130 allows you to choose between high maximum output power when there is a goodimpedance match (maximum VSWR approx. 2:1) typically during design and product validation tests orhigher mismatch tolerance with a subsequent reduction in power (starting at about VSWR 6:1) for EMCapplications involving poor matched antennas or for DUT measurements with an input impedance thatdeviates significantly from 50 9. lt must continue to produce the desired output power for as long aspossible.
Flexible configurable
Compact and modular with extensive switching options
The design of R&SeBBA130 is optimized for maximum flexibility in a small footprint. The compact.modular desian of the amplifier staaes and other components allows the setup of highly intearatedsystems based on 19" rack units. The fregquency and power of these rack units can be flexiblyconfigured. Numerous switching options allow you to mix and match the indivdual ampliflers to asingle system with multiple frequency bands to obtain the best configuration for your specificapplication.
Modern user interface
Flexible control and operation
The R&SeBBA130 is operated via the display and the buttons on the front panel. This is ideal for use inabs and makes it easy to change settings. In addition the R&S@BBA130 can be conveniently operatedvia its graphical user interface using a computer. The web GUl integrated into the R&SBBA130 is calledup via LAN and web browser. The standard Ethernet interface makes it possible to automate testsequences using remote control SCPlcommands.
